I made the first homemade mince pies of the season today. Made with homemade mincemeat and homemade pastry. I feel so Christmassy and wholesome! Recipes over at AnnaintheKitchen.

Alright, all, it's been a tough week and my poor girlfriend doesn't have a day off til this weekend. :( I was hoping to bake her something but our ingredients list is REALLY limited and I was hoping any of you know any recipes I could use. However, we are entirely out of regular sugar and real butter, and also out of eggs. This makes it very difficult I understand, but I'm asking for any kind of recipe at all be it a cake, cookie, or what have you.
Things we DO have: Lemon juice, cinnamon, apples, carrots?, WHEAT flour (she felt it would be healthier but now I realize it's odd to work with), I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, veggie oil, pear halves?, milk obviously, and brownie mix. We really need to do some shopping!
Anyway, any help at all would be great. Thanks!

As an update I just wanted to say I have powdered sugar, which I forgot to mention, and also today we got some regular sugar, so woo! Thanks for the suggestions, I also have a leftover turkey from Thanksgiving to make, and I think I will bake it all on Thursday. Thanks all!

My cookie exchange was a success. Read more )

Below is a photo of all the cookies I collected from everyone, minus two that I've eaten. :D While the photo does not make it seem like a lot of cookies, there are between four and five dozen there. Wow!

I have to show this to mom when I get back.... >.< I think she'll just walk out of the room and say something like "Crazy Japanese"...

Someone needs to do this for a convention.... just imagine - otaku, in tidy whities... *shudders* Tho surprisingly, I think I'd have to pay to see that, just because I CAN'T believe someone would do it. HA!

And I giggle at "grandma".... she's AWESOME.

I'm trying to find a stitch n bitch/knitting or crochet group in Oklahoma City.

I know of three groups already thanks to Ravelry. OKC Common Threads meets while I'm at work. OKC Pick up Sticks: I know which Borders they meet at and I think they meet on Tuesday night ( which is going to be problem come January when my work schedule changes and I work Tuesday nights). Anyway, the Borders is on the NW Expressway and that street is the last place want to ride my bike during daylight, much less coming home at night.
The Gourmet Yarn Company has a knit-in once a month according to their site but it doesn't say when (I could just be looking over it in my frustration). It's sort of my last option at this point. It's further than I'd like to bike back at night but I can handle one night a month. Driving is not an option.

Does anyone in this community live on Oklahoma City? If you do, do you know of any other groups?

Also: I'm trying to figure out how to post a comment on an existing topic in a discussion. I can't see any "post a comment here" button. Just "reply" buttons.

Anne Shirley
Price: $100 or best offer
This Anne Shirley is in fantastic condition! She's been rewigged with a KStar red wig that matches the her original color almost perfectly and gives her a cute and current look. The wig has been glued down so that it fits perfectly. Her makeup is in perfect condition and her faced has been resealed with no scratches. Her body is slightly loose around the head and waist and faintly discolored but overall in good condition.

Does anyone have a rec for a good JSK pattern? I know there are tons of pattern roundup posts, but I actually want to know from someone who has actually used a pattern for a JSK, preferably with images of the finished product.

Thanks!

I've been being crafty lately and decided to look for a crafting community. Found it!

I've been making button ornaments lately and that is really the only thing I have photographed. So here you go )

Before I get to work on my projects for me, I need to make my friend's Christmas present!

I'm using a purple Swan Lake print fabric that I bought in Japan. I originally meant to make a skirt, but I have more fabric than I thought, and I don't think I want ruffles. So a jsk it is!

The bodice will be lined, and I'm using a cotton venise lace I already have on hand. I'm using a sleeveless top pattern I have for the bodice, and the challenge will be modifying it to have a shirred back. I don't want to do a zipper for someone who can't try it on!
