Are movie critics out of touch with movie goers?
it appears so... most of the time a lot of critics say a movie is bad... and people love t.
But the BIGGEST divide yet has been the new Transformer movie.
Most reviewers said it was the WORST MOVE THEY EVER SAW.... Yet... it's now grossing about 400 millions at the box office.
Are most reviewers so blase with movie that they forget one thing?... Movies are an entertainment and as such we go there to forget about real life and just enjoy it? Most critics for Transformers 2 said this: Leave your brain at the door.
Really? What about comedies like the one about buddies doing a Bachelor party and loosing the groom and a series of really contrived misfortunes arrive. THAT's what I would call leave your brains at the door cause obviously it's not require cause your brain will turn off automatically if you stay.
Look at ET the extra-terrestrial.. the critics HATED it when it got out... they since rectified their views on the movie. But they did hate that movie at first... then it became hugely popular.
Are reviewers snobs or just film directors that couldn't make it? Is there a jalousy factor?... On certain online reviewboards like Rotten tomatoes you have to wonder (They gave it an overall 20% rating) You also have to wonder on those online sites how many of those critics are sock puppets too. When you read some of the reviews, some are so virulant and express the same opinion... it does make you wonder.
It's like this also in the restaurant business... You love this little restaurant that is manned by a family, it's nothing too elaborate but you love the atmosphere and the food. But should a food critic come to that place OMG... you would wonder if it's the same old place. They would HATE IT!
In the case of Transformers at least word of mouth is helping the movie and people are critic of the critics. People go see movies to be entertained and the level of YOUR entertainement can only be judged by you.
Certain movies, I would never go see... but if that rocks your boat, go for it! ::looks when is the next scheduling of Transformers... and decides to wait to see it in Quebec cause the movies are all translated in french here... siiiighs::
